Liber Amicorum: A Tribute to Minister Marco Buzzi’s 13 Years of Service on the Court of Citizenship”

Liber Amicorum: A Tribute to Minister Marco Buzzi’s 13 Years of Service on the Court of Citizenship is a work that brings together contributions from a select group of legal professionals, with the purpose of celebrating the career of the distinguished magistrate from Santa Catarina through reflections on his valuable contributions to the Judiciary. A native of Timbó, in the state of Santa Catarina, and the son of teachers, Marco Aurélio Gastaldi Buzzi began his professional career at a very young age as a photojournalist and played a leading role in the founding of the local newspaper A Tribuna. While still attending law school, he worked at a law firm in the quiet town of Alto Vale Catarinense. It was not long, however, before he embarked on his career as a judge, in 1982, after placing first in the competitive examination for the Judiciary of the Court of Justice of Santa Catarina. Together with his wife, Katcha Valesca de Macedo Buzzi, he moved to the interior of the state, where their daughters, Catarina, Vitória, and Ana Carolina, were born. On September 5, 2011, he was sworn in as a Justice of the Superior Court of Justice and has since served as a member of the Fourth Panel and the Second Section, distinguishing himself through the high productivity of his chambers among those dedicated to Private Law. Furthermore, special recognition must be given to the honoree’s decisive leadership and prominent role in consolidating the National Policy for the Consensual Resolution of Conflicts, serving as a genuine means of advancing the realization of citizenship. Against this backdrop, this book highlights the profound and essential contributions of Justice Marco Buzzi to the analysis and adjudication of cases concerning substantive and procedural Civil Law. It also addresses other areas, including civil liability and Digital Law, while emphasizing the various initiatives he has led in the fields of conciliation and mediation.
